There’s something calming about walking into a clear, organized room that you’ve intentionally reset.

30 Day Declutter Challenge to Simplify Your Life
The tasks in this challenge are designed to be simple, practical, and completely doable — even if you only have a few minutes each day. Small steps really do add up, and to make things even easier, I’ve also linked to amazing decluttering products at the end of the post that will help you streamline the process and keep your home organized long after the challenge is finished.

1. The Countertop Clean Sweep
Let’s start this 30 day declutter challenge with a small but mighty task. Choose one small, visible surface in your home such as your entryway console or any counter corner that gets lots of traffic. Then remove everything from it, wipe it down, dust off the items that were on it but only put back what truly belongs.
2. Declutter Your Digital Photos (Just 60)
Get your phone and delete 60 blurry, duplicate, or screenshot photos. Doing this small batch of photos will give you some instant progress without the overwhelm and clears up space on your phone for more meaningful pics that bring you joy.
💡Tip: Doing this once a month is a great way to keep your photos more organized.
3. The Food Containers Edit
You know that drawer of mismatched containers? It’s tiny, but it creates daily friction as you search through it, so today we’re choosing simplicity over “just in case” and letting go of what no longer fits — literally and figuratively. So take out all of your Tupperware or food storage, then make sure you have a match for them, and only keep complete sets.
4. The Give & Release Donations

We hang on to many unnecessary things, or forget about them until they no longer fit, have no real purpose or don’t make sense for us anymore. So today grab a couple of boxes and walk through your home to fill them up with donations for charities and if the whole house feels overwhelming pick two rooms with the most clutter.
5. The Two-Stack Paper Reset
Choose one or two prominent paper piles, you know the ones you walk by every day and always say you’ll get to it soon but never seem to. Then go through them and recycle what’s outdated, file what matters, and take quick action on anything that takes less than five minutes.
6. The Read-It-or-Release-It Rule
Head to one bookshelf and focus specifically on decluttering old books and magazines. Go through them and keep only the ones you truly love and genuinely plan to read soon, then donate the rest and create more space for who you are now and what brings you joy.
7. The Laundry Room Reset
Choose one area in your laundry room — a shelf, cabinet, or surface. Then toss empty containers, wipe down the space, and keep only the products you actually use. The goal isn’t a full makeover — just a cleaner, calmer space that makes everyday tasks feel lighter.
8. The Medicine Cabinet Expiry Date Edit
Today’s focus is to empty your medicine cabinet and check expiration dates. Then safely discard expired medications, old prescriptions, and products you no longer use. Wipe down the shelves and return only what’s current, necessary, and clearly labeled.
9. The Toiletry Tidy-Up

Our collection of toiletries can quickly add up and become a mess. So today pull out everyday toiletries — lotions, hair products, skincare, and anything tucked under the sink. Get rid of empty bottles, products you didn’t like, and items you forgot you even had. Put back only what you need and group similar items together so mornings feel smoother.
10. Declutter Your Self-Talk
Today is about clearing some emotional baggage or clutter in an easy but powerful way. So take a few quiet minutes to notice the negative thoughts you often repeat to yourself. Write down three that come up most often, then consciously cross them out.
For each one, replace it with a neutral, grounded alternative — something truthful, kind, and realistic. It may not seem significant but working on shifting these mental patterns, even in small ways, can create space for clarity, confidence, and a calmer mindset.

11. The Essentials-Only Makeup Declutter
Go through your makeup and beauty products, and check expiration dates, dried-out items, or anything you haven’t used in months. Keep only the products you actually use, and safely discard the rest.
12. The Pantry Refresh
Go through your pantry and pull out anything expired, stale, or you know you won’t eat. Group similar items together and organize them so you can actually see and reach what you have. Keep only what you use because having a tidy pantry makes meal prep easier and your kitchen feels lighter.
13. The Purse Purge
Empty your handbag completely and dust it out. Then sort through everything inside — receipts, old tissues, random pens, gift cards or items you no longer need. Then keep only the essentials you use or that make your life easier.
14. Unsubscribe From 5–10 Emails
Set a 15-minute timer and go through your inbox and unsubscribe from 5–10 email lists that no longer serve you or add value to your day. Be honest — if it doesn’t bring you inspiration, useful information, or constantly tempts you to spend money, let it go.
15. Clear Your Nightstand
Take everything off your nightstand and keep only the items that support rest and relaxation — a lamp, a book you’re currently reading, a water glass, or anything you always use that helps you unwind. Remove random receipts, old glasses, cluttered books, or anything that doesn’t serve you.

Clear everything off your home desk and only return what you use daily — your computer, a notebook, and essential tools. Sort papers, recycle what’s no longer needed, and create a small, organized space for what truly matters. I do this every few months and it always feels great!
17. The Kitchen Cupboard Refresh
Go through your cupboards and pull out mugs, plates, or bowls you haven’t used for years. Keep only the ones you love, use regularly, or have sentimental value. Donate or recycle the rest, and enjoy the satisfaction of open, easy-to-access space every time you reach for something.
18. The Wardrobe Clarity Challenge

Open your closet and look at what’s in front of you. Pull out pieces you haven’t worn in months, that don’t fit or that no longer make you feel confident. Put back only what you wear or feel good in and the rest be donated. For bonus points colour coordinate everything and get the same hangers so everything feels streamlined. 19. The Social Media Feed Refresh
Take a moment to look at your social media feeds and notice which accounts spark joy, inspiration, or connection — and which ones drain or distract you. We spend so much time scrolling so this is an effective way to ensure it’s a positive thing in your day rather than a waste of time. Unfollow or temporarily pause the ones that don’t serve you.
20. The Sock & Underwear Edit
Empty your sock and underwear drawers and sort through each item. Toss anything worn out, mismatched, or no longer comfortable. Keep only the pieces you wear and love.
21. Create One Empty Space
This task is a little different but can make a real impact. Pick one small area such as a drawer or a shelf and intentionally leave it partially empty. Remove anything that doesn’t serve a clear purpose, and resist your urge to fill the space back up. Notice how just a little breathing room can instantly make your environment feel calmer and lighter.

22. The Car Clutter Reset
Take 30 minutes and give your car a quick refresh. Gather the water bottles, random receipts, snack wrappers, and mystery items rolling around, and clear them out. Put back only what you genuinely need — registration, an emergency kit, and a reusable bag(s).
23. The Fresh Start Fridge

Since we use our fridge everyday this is one appliance that easily gets disorganzied and can feel a bit chaotic when you open it up. So start by emptying everything out of your fridge and check dates as you go. Then toss expired condiments, forgotten leftovers, and anything you know you won’t eat.
Before you return anything, wipe down all the shelves and return only what’s still fresh and usable. If you like, place a new box of baking soda inside to keep things smelling clean and crisp.
24. The Coat Closet Refresh
Take everything out of your coat closet or entryway area. Remove coats you no longer wear, mismatched gloves, extra scarves, and shoes/boots that you no longer use. Put back only what fits the current season or what you use and donate the rest (depending on their condition of course).
25. Coffee and Side Table Tackle Time
Clear off your coffee table and side tables and take a good look at what’s been piling up — old mail, half-read magazines, random remotes, empty cups or old coasters. Remove what doesn’t belong and leave only a few intentional items and whatever brings you peace, like a book, candles, the remote you use or a decorative tray.
26. Clear One “Drop Zone”
Choose one clutter magnet in your home, we all have those, like a kitchen counter corner, hallway table, ledge, or your entry bench or console.
First, remove everything and wipe the surface clean. Then return only what truly belongs there, and move the rest to their proper homes so this space can function as it was meant to — not as the constantly cluttered area it has become.
27. The Essentials-Only Wallet
Pull everything out of your wallet and take a quick look at what’s inside. Then toss old receipts, expired cards, or anything you haven’t used in awhile. Keep only what makes sense for your daily life — a few cards, some cash, a family pic(s) and whatever you rely on.
28. The Cleaning Supply Simplify
Gather all your cleaning supplies from under the sink, closets, or garage and bring them into one easy to access spot. Toss empty bottles, worn-out sponges, old gloves and products you never use.
Then group similar items together — glass cleaners with glass cleaners, bathroom products with bathroom products and so forth — and place them in baskets for easy access. Keeping everything contained in one area makes cleaning faster and prevents you from buying duplicates.
29. Design One Reset Ritual
As the 30 day declutter challenge comes to an end, take a few minutes to create a simple plan to keep clutter from creeping back in. If you need cleaning supplies or storage bins, order them now so you’re set up for success.
Choose one day each week and block off 15–20 minutes for a quick reset. Set a reminder on your phone, then wipe down main surfaces, clear your inbox, tidy small clutter hotspots, and check your donation box or paper pile.
